PLEASURE TO TREASURE

Sue O’Donnell. 04.10.20

Everyday nature, what a glorious autumn feature.

It is October, late in the day of the year,

Winter will all too soon be drawing near,

But there are still some gardens in flower.

Nature can often really surprise us.

Only yesterday I could see in the distance

A bright splash of the splendour of scarlet far away in our garden.

Upon closer inspection it turned out to be astonishingly,

A bold and beautiful summer geranium just opening,

Which had decided to decorate our garden,

Now, in mid autumn. Astonishing!

Open the door, get out into the garden!

Go as early as you can to find a display,

For the sun now sinks lower earlier in the day.

You will not have to look far for a colour display.

Oh, what a season of pleasure to treasure!

Lord, for all the beauty of flowers still remaining, because although it is October, it is mild, I praise and thank You with appreciation. May we never take Your gifts for granted, but always seek to praise and thank

You. You did so surprise me unexpectedly with that splash of scarlet. I could not wait to go and see what was happening at the far end of the garden. Then, what a surprise to find a new geranium in flower! You are

a God of lovely surprises. Thank You so much! Amen.
